Shaniqua Clark Nelson

Shaniqua Clark Nelson is a co-founding partner of Clark Nelson & Burton, PLLC.  She is a versatile litigator who has extensive experience handling complex legal issues. Clark Nelson is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice from George Mason University. Her legal education was completed at the University of Richmond School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2010.

Shaniqua began her law practice as a criminal defense attorney in Northern Virginia prior to becoming a prosecutor.  As a defense attorney, she cultivated strong attorney-client relationships built on effective communication, a clear understanding of the legal issues and effective counsel on relevant strategies and approaches.

 In June 2013, she became a prosecutor in Portsmouth, Virginia where she handled a significant number of cases as a skilled trial litigator.  She has handled all types of criminal cases including, but not limited to: traffic matters such as DUI’s, violent offenses, drug offenses, and complex felony matters such as sexual assault, murder and attempted capital murder cases.  In Loudoun County, Shaniqua Clark Nelson previously served as the Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney, specifically focusing her practice on the most significant and complex criminal matters.

Client engagement is essential to the success of a case, and Shaniqua is committed to maintaining a high level of communication to keep clients informed on the status of their case.  She manages the client relationship transparently so that they can see how their interests are being served at every stage of the litigation process. As a strong and compassionate litigator, she strives to keep clients informed of their options, involved in the preparation of their case and will be invested in their future.
